Laine Gimbi

Director of Financial Services
Laine Gimbi, the Director of Financial Services at The Nonprofit Plug, hails from a diverse background that spans from the Philippines to Long Beach, California. Born in the Philippines and later immigrating to the United States at the age of three, Laine’s upbringing was influenced deeply by her parents, particularly her mother’s entrepreneurial endeavors and her father’s foresight.

Her mother, a multifaceted individual, served as both a teacher and a successful entrepreneur, delving into ventures such as insurance, real estate, and even jewelry sales. Witnessing her mother’s tenacity and drive instilled in Laine a profound appreciation for venturing beyond comfort zones and seizing opportunities.

Tragically, Laine’s life took a significant turn with the untimely passing of her father when she was on the cusp of adulthood. This loss served as a catalyst, propelling her towards a journey of self-reliance and a deepened interest in finance and money management.

Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications and Network Management from DeVRY University, Laine embarked on a career journey that seamlessly blended her technical acumen with her burgeoning interest in business. Following her father’s guidance, she pursued a path that integrated technology and business, setting the stage for her future successes.

Her career path led her through various roles, from a Network and Field Engineer at Nortel Networks to obtaining licenses in financial advisory. Laine’s entrepreneurial spirit eventually led her to establish her own accounting and human resources consulting business, a journey marked by resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to her clients’ financial well-being.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Laine finds fulfillment in her roles as a mother, fitness instructor, and baker. Her dedication to fitness instruction stems from a desire to pay forward the support she received on her own journey, while her baking endeavors serve as a creative outlet and a means of spreading joy.

Throughout her life, Laine has confronted challenges head-on, relying on prayer, resilience, and emotional fortitude to navigate difficult circumstances. Her experiences have taught her the importance of vulnerability, accountability, and adaptation in the face of adversity.

Driven by a compassionate spirit, Laine actively engages in philanthropic efforts, supporting causes such as aiding deaf children, disaster relief, and various charitable organizations. Her experiences, from volunteering at orphanages to assisting in hurricane relief efforts, have left indelible impressions, reinforcing her gratitude and compassion for others.

Laine’s journey has been shaped by the influences of her mother, grandmother, and mentor, individuals whose resilience, determination, and compassion have left lasting imprints on her character and goals. Their examples have instilled in her a belief in the power of perseverance, service, and unwavering faith.

Despite her proficiency in baking, Laine harbors a surprising aversion to cheesecake, a fact that adds a touch of irony to her successful cheesecake baking business. Additionally, she embraces the tradition of starting new ventures on New Year’s Eve, a symbolic nod to fresh beginnings and uncharted paths.

In the midst of her busy life, Laine holds a nuanced perspective on love, acknowledging past heartaches while maintaining a steadfast belief in its enduring power. Her journey, marked by resilience, compassion, and boundless determination, serves as a testament to the transformative potential of embracing life’s challenges and opportunities with unwavering resolve.
